UPDATE: Hi Y'all!!! From Blaze

Our Miracle Girl has a little pot belly now!

And, well, I had to let her collar out a notch the other day… oops, she’s closer to 17 than 16 lbs. Her coat is lush and wavy and shiny, her eyes sparkle and she runs everywhere. Even though she cannot hear, there is nothing tentative or afraid about her behavior and she obviously has found her place in the big pack/family thing going on here at Chez Terrier. Don’t dare be late at mealtime because she will sit on your foot and stare at you, go repeatedly to her empty food bowl to check the status, try to squeeze herself between your feet, or circle around your office chair until she gets some satisfaction.

Blaze has made so much progress in the past few weeks, it’s just amazing. I wish so much that all of you who have followed her story could see her now. She’s finally living the life she has always deserved but did not have for so many years.

Blazie and I went to see Dr. Angela Mees, who performed her oral surgery, for her one-month check-up. The Miracle Girl has done it again!!

The Miracle Girl Does It Again!

Once more, I bow to the Power of Blazie, the Miracle Girl. After all my fears and anxiety, she’s beat the odds again!

Today was her one month from oral surgery check-up. I’m thrilled to report that Dr. Angela Mees says that both upper fistulas remain closed and are healing well. After all she’s been through, this is terrific news and such a huge relief. Dr. Mees admitted that even she was surprised Blaze has done so well. She cautions that the healing is not complete so we have to keep a close eye on it, but right now things look great.

UPDATE: Hanging in with Blaze

(THIS IS LONG, SOME OF IT IS UNCOMFORTABLY GRAPHIC – IF YOU HATE THAT PART, SKIP TO THE END AND LOOK AT OUR DARLING GIRL HAVING FUN IN THE PARK).

I’ve been hearing from some of you and am so sorry that I’m behind on my updates about our miracle girl, but have had a difficult 3 weeks, including a business trip during which I had to leave Blaze back at Ansley Clinic – only for two nights – since her nursing care is something either I or they have to do, plus very busy with work, and with daily life.

While she is doing very well, there are still ongoing concerns about Blaze’s health.

Everyone, including both Dr. Brandley at Ansley, and Dr. Mees, the dental specialist who did Blaze’s second oral surgery on the 19th of October, hoped that this would be the solution to the chronic and uncomfortable chest congestion and sneezing and sinus dripping that had hindered her from feeling and being completely well.
