UPDATE OCTOBER 1, 2011: (as always, click on any image for a larger view)
Holly and I arrived and we were able to have a nice visit with Blaze in an examination room since she is not allowed outside because of the drain and the risk of infection.
She was thrilled to see Holly – better known as the "Treat Lady"! I made a couple of short videos, showing her diving into a bag of treats. You can see the fentenyl pain patch on her side, and in some shots you can see her big line of stitches on her side and stomach.
She doesn’t want to be held but was happy to eat the treats Holly offered her. She walks around great and her coat is much better. She even looks like she might be gaining some muscle. The wire on top of her muzzle is gone, but of course she must wear the lampshade to protect her fragile skin, the stitches and that drain.
All of your love, caring thoughts, prayers and good wishes – not to mention those donations !! – have helped her survive these two huge surgeries and come through with that terrier spirit!
Before my Blaze visit, I decided to make a goodie basket for the vet clinic staff who have been so wonderful to her. I had fun picking out chocolate chip cookies, yogurt covered raisins, chocolate pretzels, brownies, strawberries, and cranberry nut cakes. I put a photo of Blaze saying thank you taped to the basket. I wish there was a way to convey the true depth of our gratitude. But there simply are not words...
